Benson Boone is a dynamic performer. This much was more than evident while watching the 22-year-old singer’s set at Weekend 1 of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival on Friday, April 11.
As this is THE music festival in the United States (and maybe the world?) where fans and audiences look forward to special guests and onstage surprises, Boone delivered one of the best moments of the first weekend when none other than Brian May of Queen joined Boone and his band for a rousing, electrifying cover of “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Leading up to this magical moment, there were Queen allusions throughout Boone’s set. Not only does his voice, the one that has powered massive hits such as “Beautiful Things” (which May also helped perform in the encore) and “In the Stars” already in his career, remind some of the late Freddie Mercury, but Boone was also wearing a skintight jumpsuit-type outfit for his performance.
So when he donned a robe and got behind the piano to pluck the opening keys of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” it just felt and looked right … even more so when May showed up, guitar in hand, to really turn things up to 11:

May was effusive in praise in a social media post toasting Boone for the experience:
Do we look happy ? !!! Gonna treasure this moment on the plane with @bensonboone – a truly golden 22 year old prodigy. I’m proud and happy to say we are now officially pals 💥💥💥💥 Bri
Boone summed it all up himself, too:
Benson Boone will take the stage again on Friday, April 18 — where this may very well happen a second time. We’ll see!
