Darci Lynne can do it all!
When the winner of Season 12 of America’s Got Talent returned to the AGT stage during the Season 1 finale of AGT: The Champions 2020, she wowed the audiences once again! How? With her mouth totally closed, of course, she also performed a breathtaking cover of the Italian opera song “O Mio Babbino Caro” using her trademark ventriloquism routine.
“Oh my carrots. Look at all these people! Hey, all of you up there! Can you hear me?” Petunia, Lynne’s “lucky charm” puppet, said before making a noise that echoed all around.
Judged Simon Cowell gave it a thumbs up, saying, “That was incredible.”
All Grown Up! America’s Got Talent Winner Darci Lynne Returns!
Then Lynne and Petunia gave the most angelic performance of the song, hitting each and every high operatic note.
As you would expect, both received a standing ovation from all four judges.
Cowell called it Lynne’s “best performance ever” in the AGT universe. It’s not easy to sing opera at your age, but you are singing opera through a rabbit, he said.
Your delivery, your confidence — you talk about being self-taught, well, you were self-made — and you have worked so hard to get to this moment. You deserve all of this, and so much freakin’ more,’ Mel B. gushed.
Darci Lynne Sings Opera “O Mio Babbino Caro” INCREDIBLE Performance – America’s Got Talent
In 2024, Lynne proved her versatility once more when she was a contestant on the first season of America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League.
Where she opened with an astounding performance of the song “I’ve Got the Music in Me” from the Kiki Dee Band. But although the Judges were on board, as always, with Lynne’s singing talent, they were not so sure about Lynne trying to disassociate herself with her one-of-a-kind ventriloquist–style skills.
However, Lynne did not follow their hearts and made a new identity. Lynne shifted gears for her next song, abandoning her puppets and taking a risk with a terrific original single entitled “Push Our Luck.”
