Darci Lynne Stuns AGT Fans with Magical ‘Journey to the Past’ — A Princess in the Making?

Darci Lynne is manifesting her dreams in the best way she knows — by singing her heart out!

In a March 27 Instagram video, the America’s Got Talent alum revealed what’s been on her vision board: One day playing the role of Anastasia in a remake of the 1997 Disney animated film, Anastasia. It’s an inspiring dream to have, after all, who wouldn’t want to be a real-life princess? Luckily for Lynne, she showed off her Anastasia skills by performing “Journey to the Past” in what could easily be an audition for the Broadway production.

In the video, the 20-year-old put aside her trademark ventriloquist puppet friends and let her unbelievable vocals shine.

“My audition to be Anastasia 🥹😭,” Lynne said in a caption.

Once again, she dazzled her fans with an epic performance from the comfort of her own home.

Armed with emotion and passion, Lynne made the most of her impromptu “audition” by hitting some truly impressive high notes! There’s something poetic about Lynne singing about “finding her future.” She has more in common with the princess than she may have thought!

If Lynne would bring this kind of spirited performance to the character, she’s a shoo-in for the role. The star has come a long way since her epic AGT audition — and she’s somehow only getting better.

Here’s what to know about “Journey to the Past” from Anastasia

Darci Lynne performs during Season 1 Episode 6 of America's Got Talent: Fantasy League

Released in 1997 as part of the soundtrack Anastasia: Music from the Motion Picture, “Journey to the Past” was featured prominently in the animated film and is arguably the song most recognizable nearly 30 years later. In the movie, the song is performed by Emmy-winning actress and singer Liz Callaway.

The song’s subject matter focuses on the title character’s yearning for more information about her family in hopes of discovering who she really is and what she’s meant to be.

“Journey to the Past” still enjoys immense popularity today. It has been covered by artists like the late Aaliyah, who memorably performed the song during the 70th Academy Awards.
