\u201cI Dreamed a Dream\u201d is from the 1980 musical Les Mis\u00e9rables, based on the novel by Victor Hugo. It is sung by the character Fantine during the first act, who\u2019s mourning life\u2019s many disappointments, telling the story of how she came to be an impoverished single mother.<\/p>\n

The song has been incredibly popular over the years and has been covered by artists like Josh Groban, Neil Diamond, and Japanese sensation Tomomi Kahara. Kahara\u2019s version achieved massive commercial success \u2014 although not in the United States. \u201cI Dreamed a Dream\u201d reached number six on the Japanese Billboard Hot 100 in 2013.<\/p>\n
