He also loved rollerblading and exploring the outdoors, which fits his image of a free-spirited performer who never quite stops moving.<\/p>\n<p>Behind the spotlight, Boone has always stayed grounded. \u201cBehind the screen, I\u2019m just a regular kid who likes sports, the outdoors and enjoys life,\u201d he once shared. But in a bold move, he chose to walk away from the show before it finished. \u201cI don\u2019t want people to be like, \u2018Oh, Benson Boone, American Idol blew him up.\u2019 No. I want to be Benson Boone because I write smash hits and they love my music,\u201d he told The Zach Sang Show in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>His instincts were right.
